Now I think we’ve established I’m not really gifted in the ways of the Happy Homemaker. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want a happy home! My neighbor Anne has one so I at least need to compete on some level. We moved in over a year ago and some tasks just never got done. Maybe it’s because I never had the right help i.e.: someone to do things for me. I’m not afraid to ask for assistance if it’s for the betterment of society i.e.: making my place prettier.
So when it came time to hang some long awaited pictures I called on the professional assistance of my friend Heather Doleshel. She’s an amazing photographer and also one of those people who just always looks “cute” and pulled together no matter what. Her home is always adorable and I love the way she’s displayed her pictures are art. I asked her to help me create a wall collage of family photos above our beloved TV that would be tasteful. I always struggle with the tasteful part.
For the first project we went to Jo Anne Fabrics and picked out simple black frames of all sizes. Then we found these black iron words that hang that said” Love and Laugh.” Heather said it’s great to add personal touches to your walls. Then we came home and put all the pics in the frames and laid them on the floor to see how they’d be displayed. Heather showed me it’s best to do a sort of collage feel without it looking messy by arranging them by size. Small on top and larger on the bottom. Then Heather got on a ladder and nailed them to my wall and I supervised by handing her lemonade and playing with her cute baby. I needed the practice. The end result was really cool. We took new and old family photos and combined them into one piece of art. I even left a space open for the new baby to be in a picture if she’s cute enough. We haven’t met her so we’ll see how that turns out when she comes.
