Things My Mother Never Taught Me About HouseWork

Since I never really saw my mother doing any housework I never really learned how certain things were to be done. I just had a laundry crisis that could have easily been avoided. I bought the color safe bleach for my clothes and added it into the wash with the clothes. It seemed simple enough. Well wouldn’t ya’ know it...the whole load came out spotted with these white spots! It was ridiculous and something out of a bad “I Love Lucy” episode.  I just had to find a way to hide this fiasco from my husband. Because according to him I am a domestic goddess and I make no mistakes. I set out to buy him identical clothes of the ones that were ruined. I did my best and just hoped and prayed he wouldn’t notice.
Then just today my neighbor Anne came over. I explained to her what happened and she said “Didn’t you put the bleach in the bleach compartment?” She said it so simply as if everyone knew the washer has a separate area JUST for bleach? Who knew? Who really cares? Well I do now. And turns out Anne was right. On the corner of the washer there is this tiny hole where you put the bleach.
This really proves my whole point that I wasn’t cut out for housework and it should be avoided at all costs.
